Beam Wins Multimedia Export Award

Beam International Limited is pleased to announce that it was the recipient of the prestigious inaugural 'Governor of Victoria Export Award for Multimedia'. This latest award was presented by the Governor of Victoria, Sir James Gobbo and the Victorian Minister for Industry, Science and Development, Mr. Mark Birrell.
Announcing 15 export award winners, Victorian Industry Minister, Mark Birrell, congratulated Beam for their outstanding export success and predicted a big future for the company:
"Beam International is one of a new breed of Victorian hi-tech companies that are spearheading our exports and creating jobs," commented Minister Birrell.
Commenting on their success, Beam International's chairman Alfred Milgrom said, "Our success reflects the high level of technology and expertise that we have within our company, combined with our commitment to the international market. This award recognises the tremendous growth Beam has experienced in the past year, with sales growing from $5.28 million to $12.53 million, and with over 70% of sales coming from export territories."
This year's winners represent Victorian export in service, agriculture, manufacture and information technology industries. The 1997 export awards attracted a record number of entries, reflecting Victoria's strength and diversity in export.
At the announcement of the awards, Beam previewed one of its major new technologies, "Famous Faces", a complete facial motion capture system designed to operate on PC systems. "Famous Faces", shown for the first time in Australia at the presentation for the Export Awards has already generated considerable interest with Hollywood's movie studios and animation companies worldwide.
According to Beam's managing director, Adam Lancman, "This product lands us right in the middle of the multi-billion dollar entertainment industry, increasingly reliant on high technology."
Beam International Limited is the holding company for the Beam Group. It is Australia's only multimedia development company traded on the Australian Stock Exchange and trades under the symbol BEM.
