Beam International has this week released its Web Authoring Tool Splash for beta testing to extremely favorable response.
"Splash! looks different to any other HTML editor you may have seen before" commented MyDesktop.Com, the software review and news website. MyDesktop.Com has exclusively previewed this release of Splash on their site: "[Splash!] may turn out to be appropriately named, as judging from the look of the interface and the results it generates, it's bound to hit the legions of existing and aspiring Webpage writers in spectacular fashion... when they see how Splash! can make light work of even the most time consuming, if not awkward, tasks I think we'll see a huge turnaround."
"With such positive initial reaction we are very confident that this product will make its mark on the industry. Its unique, easy-to-use interface and loads of features should set it apart from the crowd," commented Alfred Milgrom, Chairman of Beam.
Splash! bridges the gap between HTML authoring and desktop publishing.
Using a true drag and drop environment, it gives all users the ability to create web sites without any programming or HTML knowledge.

"According to industry observers, in a little more than four years, the Internet has grown from a collection of academic computers to a complex marketplace. Homemade CGI scripts based on basic HTML are fast giving way to commercial server and application software. "By all counts, the market for packaged software is immature, but it's projected to reach $7 billion in the year 2000.", The Red Herring magazine claimed this month."
"Organizations will continue to expand their sites at a breakneck pace. The corporate sites are growing on multiple axes. They're adding product catalogs, customer-support information, and dealer and reseller locations-and more business units want to be involved in the site." commented John McCarthy of Forrester Research.
Splash! is scheduled to be released in September '97. The beta program
is the final phase of development before release, allowing users to make
comments and provide feedback on the product. The beta program is limited to users registered with Beam. To apply for inclusion in the beta program, contact andrewb@beam.com.au.
