Beam International today announced that "Mike Teaches English" is one of only 29 finalists selected to be demonstrated in the final judging round of the New York Festivals Interactive Multimedia Competition. "Mike Teaches English" was one of the highest scoring finalists, which makes it eligible to compete for the coveted gold, silver and bronze awards.
"Mike Teaches English"  is a finalist in the category entitled: Educational /Instructional Programs Produced for use in Schools. American company Hyper Media Group is also a finalist in this category. Unlike other awards, the New York Festivals do not award finalists on a category basis. Rather, all entries are awarded points in the first judging round, and only titles that achieve a maximum number of points are eligible to compete for higher awards.
"We're thrilled of course, it's very exciting to be voted one of the best in such a prestigious competition" said Smarty Pants' General Manager, Rebecca Chapman.

"To achieve a high enough score to be admitted to the demonstrating finals is phenomenal" said a spokeswoman for the New York Awards. "We received literally hundreds of entries from all over the world, and only 29 entrants from 60 categories have been selected as demonstrating finalists".
The Languages For Kids series is a range of 11 educational titles using an innovative approach to teach primary school children a second language, using fun games and activities. Scholastic Australia Pty Limited has signed a distribution agreement for the series for Australia. Distribution agreements for Europe and the US are in final stages of negotiation.
