The MultiMedia Authoring System (MMAS) consists of utilities and editor programs that allow easy and efficient creation of multimedia projects such as:

Slideshow presentations

Interactive demonstrations

Installation systems

Adventure games

Children's entertainment

Promotional and advertising packages

The product can be used by publishers and developers to author products of varying complexity and technical functionality. Much of the success of the product is in its ability to address this variation of complexity in its use.

In addition to the authoring tool, MMAS comes with a host of utilities for IBM PC, Macintosh and SGI platforms to perform the following functions:

Draw and edit screen backdrops and 'sprites'

Edit audio samples

Content conversion from popular formats into MMAS runtime formats

Prepare Full Motion Video sequences from digitally captured video

MMAS has been designed for the following compilers:

Watcom C/C++

Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows 95

Symantec C++ for the Macintosh

The system is highly extensible allowing:

The use of modular design

User written functionality to be linked

Support of a variety of target platforms

Support of a variety of multimedia devices

Other code generators to be created by Beam for other environments, if required.
