VER2GO
VER2GO is Beam's in-house 3D renderer and physics engine.
Currently in the final stages of development, VER2GO is
designed to facilitate fluid and efficient creation of 3D
titles, so that the emphasis when creating a new title may
be placed on game design and gameplay issues.
VER2GO is an object-based system, where complete models
are created and manipulated to interact with each other in
a realistic manner. VER2GO includes a high performance
software-only renderer and also provides common rendering
services such as fast texture mapping, gouraud shading,
light and fog effects, and depth cueing.
Currently native support is available for 3DFX Voodoo
Graphics and Voodoo Rush cards as well as VideoLogics'
PowerVR card. Other cards are supported via Microsoft's
Direct3D API.
Utilities have been developed to aid in game environment
and model creation and editing. Native support for SoftImage object and animation files expand the resources available to the developer. VER2GO's ability to map motion capture data to models decreases development time and provides lifelike movement for game objects.
With the PC rapidly approaching the 3D performance of
dedicated games consoles, Beam has created VER2GO to meet
the demand of real-time 3D titles. As with all Beam's
proprietary tools, VER2GO will ensure its game developers
have the power and flexibility to create the best titles
on the PC/Windows95 platform. VER2GO is just one aspect
of our continued dedication to tools development for modern
game design and production.
